Six warm-neutral palettes that photograph well in Indian light
Aarti Kulkarni · 28 Jul 2026 · 4 min read
Cool grey interiors that look serene in a Copenhagen showroom read dull and slightly dirty under Indian sunlight. Warmth in the base tone is not a stylistic preference here; it is a correction.
Lime and teak
Lime-washed off-white walls, teak veneer, brass hardware. Forgiving, timeless, and it improves as the veneer ages.
Terracotta and sage
A clay-toned accent wall with muted green upholstery. Grounded without being heavy.
Sand and charcoal
Sand-coloured walls with charcoal joinery. Good for compact homes where contrast defines zones.
Ochre and cane
Ochre textiles, cane shutters, white oak. Reads instantly Indian without being literal.
Plaster and oxide
Textured plaster walls with red-oxide flooring. Best in older buildings with high ceilings.
Cream and walnut
The safest premium option. Warm cream base, walnut accents, no more than two metals.
Whatever you pick, test the swatch on-site at 11am and at 6pm before committing. Showroom lighting lies.
